User Guide: NAICS and PSC Code Analytics Tools

Welcome to the G2X NAICS and PSC Code Analytics Tools! This guide will walk you through how to use these powerful tools to search for government contracting opportunities efficiently.

The NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) and PSC (Product Service Code) Analytics Tools serve as separate but complementary resources, helping G2X users find opportunities based on industry classification or specific product/service details.

Understanding NAICS and PSC Codes

What is a NAICS Code?

NAICS codes categorize businesses based on the type of work they perform. Every government contract is assigned a NAICS code, which defines the contract’s scope of work.

Each NAICS code entry in G2X provides insights such as:

  • A five-year and ten-year contracting trend graph

  • A breakdown of associated contract awards and contract vehicles

  • (Coming Soon) Insights into top agencies and companies awarding contracts under that NAICS

What is a PSC Code?

PSC codes further classify purchases within NAICS categories. They specify what the government is buying. For example:

PSC codes refine NAICS categories, allowing for a more detailed breakdown of what the government is purchasing.

Comparing NAICS and PSC Code Searches

Both methods allow you to explore contract opportunities, but they serve different purposes:

  • NAICS searches provide a broad industry-wide view of trends and contracting activity.

  • PSC searches offer a more detailed look into specific government purchases within NAICS categories.

While NAICS searches include more metadata (such as last modified dates and response deadlines), both approaches ultimately lead to the same end goal: identifying government contracting opportunities.

Additional Features and Upcoming Enhancements
